La Petite Sarkozy

France's first lady Carla Bruni has given birth to a little girl at the La Muette clinic in Paris, XVI. Carla has one son and the president has three sons as well. This event marks the first time a French president becomes a parent while in office. Félicitations to the happy family! *......and her name is Giulia....

VIVA LA PASTA

Des pâtes (day pat= pasta)

This week at the school cantine it's been Pasta Week....well two out of four days. Some of us mothers have had a good chuckle over some of the verbose descriptions they give otherwise ordinary dishes. Let's have a look at Thursday's menu:

Jeudi
Iceberg salad
Vinaigrette à la chives
Charolais pot roast
Carrots in vegetable "juice"
Edam cheese
Caramel cake

It's a pretty full menu. With salad, as always. Iceberg salad at that. Not even a French favorite (too McDonald's like). Each year, around November, us parents are invited to lunch, which I think is such a great idea. The kids love it and we get to see, first-hand, what our little ones are eating. If it doesn't pass muster, our voice is heard and changes are made. It is a pretty good system!
