Foreign Food Friday: Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats

Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats

Weekend Trifecta = Little Sister's Birthday (3), more birthdays, and the Rugby World Cup semi-finals (France vs. Wales) = need for easy no-bake treats to assuage the crowd!

For my American readers this recipe is nothing new. For all the rest of you, I'm serving you up a square of Americana right now. Rice Krispie treats are a must if you've got kids or a sweet tooth. It is all good stuff. Butter, Monsanto goodness (marshmallows) and chocolate sugar bomb cereal!

The ingredients:

3 TBSP of butter, melted
40 regular marshmallows, or 4 cups of small ones
6 cups of cereal

Directions:

In a large pot melt butter.
Add marshmallows, stirring occasionally until melted.
Add cereal and mix until coated.
With a slightly buttered spatula, press into medium sized pan.
Cool. Cut into bars.

**You can experiment with this stellar example of haute cuisine. Try cornflakes, regular Rice Krispies, other local cereals, etc....

Bonne week-end à tous!
