French Food Fridays: Café Extra Gourmand

When dining in a French restaurant you'll often see this creature called a café gourmand. After a copious meal of the best French gastronomie it would be a little too indulgent for one's waistline to order a full-sized dessert. Besides, there is still the goûter (snack/coffee) at 4 p.m. (it's like Trix, not just for kids) followed by dinner....

Non, the café gourmand is usually the perfect compromise. That is of course unless you got the one I ordered yesterday. Usually, one gets two, maybe three mini desserts. Here I got:

1 chocolate chip cookie
1 chocolate hazelnut cookie
1 mini ice cream bar
1 madeleine
1 chocolate mousse

It's a good thing I had a good morning run!
