Lavoir (la-vwahr = wash house)
This lavoir is situated in a charming little village (aren't they all). These wash-houses were the meeting place for women of the day. Contrary to popular belief, women didn't come here to wash their clothing, but rather to rinse them as this necessitated a great deal more water than would be readily available in their homes.
