Paving the way for more pessimism . . .

"L'enfer est pavé de bonnes intentions" (lanfer ay pavay duh bon-z-entension = Hell is paved with good intentions . . )

Did you know that the the French are 3rd among the world's most pessimistic peoples? They are also known for being a little heavy-handed with the anti-depressants, but hey!

Seriously.

According to a recent Gallup poll, 61% of the French are not optimistic about what lies ahead in the next 12 months in terms of the country's economic situation, employment levels and overall growth.  Only the United Kingdom and Pakistan beat France in terms of lack of New Year cheer.

Since 2012 will be an election year, some might reckon that all the gloom & doom has a little something to do with the yellow brick road someone has been paving these last five years . . . ?
